Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year! I hope you all had a wonderful summer break and had an opportunity to share time with your loved ones. I welcome you back to what I believe will be an amazing year of learning, curiosity, social and emotional growth!

We begin the school year on a high note. Our preliminary data indicated we are on the right track. Our school is seeing gains in English/Language Arts and Mathematics assessments. Our students are exceeding our goals and we are proud of the achievements we have seen.

This year, we welcome new staff members and veteran educators switching into new roles on campus. Academically, our focus will be on strengthening student engagement through academic discourse, fostering a student culture of respect, intense academic interventions and advancing academic excellence through interdisciplinary projects.

Among the instructional/school highlights for the upcoming year are:

  •      A Girls and Boys BMS Basketball Team that will participate in LAUSD recreational competitions;
  •     The opening of Choir Classes with a unique district created K Pop classes and
  •     Several field trips including the Clear Creek Camp, the Getty Villa and the Broad Museum.

Belvedere Middle School will continue to create a positive, safe, and inspiring learning environment where every child can thrive. “All Races, All Creeds: All Americans” lives in our BMS spirit, in and out of the classroom. I want to reassure our community that we have implemented the LAUSD “We Are One” Campaign and our entire team is committed to provide a safe, welcoming school campus.

I am truly honored to be part of this remarkable team. Our teachers and I are ready to start the year strong. Let’s make this year one of our best yet!

And remember, we are BMS Strong!

Sincerely,

Elsa Mendoza
